New Homes

Our construction projects are built by local contractors and building companies. As a business it’s important to us that any spend we make benefits the local community. Our construction projects where possible will be built by local companies to keep the spend as local as possible and help boost our local economy.

We also make sure our construction projects deliver much more than bricks and mortar and every contract will have social value commitments, which means our contractors will create training and volunteering opportunities, community benefits and achieve sustainability targets to make sure we are going that extra mile and considering the impact of our work in the wider community.

  • 122-126 Dunraven Street

This project in the heart of Tonypandy town centre forms part of our wider regeneration plans for the town. Previously home to fire damaged and structurally dangerous buildings our project will transform the street scene and deliver a new building that will open up a key pedestrian route into the main shopping street.

Our project will deliver 13 new homes which have been part funded by Welsh Government’s Social Housing Grant programme. All homes will meet EPC A and Welsh Government’s Beautiful Homes and Places standards. On the ground floor 2 apartments will be adapted to meet our tenants specific needs and requirements.

Construction is underway in partnership with P & P Building and Roofing Ltd and is due for completion in early 2024.

  • Big Shed Project

This project which we call ‘The Big Shed’ is our major regeneration project in Tonypandy town Centre. This is a mixed use development which means we will be building new homes and some commercial spaces which we hope will compliment the wider regeneration ongoing in the town. We will be building 51 new homes which have been part funded by Welsh Government Social Housing Grant. Some of the homes we are building have been designed specifically for a partnership project with Rhondda Cynon Taff Council where accommodation on the ground floor of our block will be specifically for adults with disabilities with spaces that will provide accommodation and wrap around support areas for tenants living there. Our homes at The Big Shed will be highly sustainable and meet EPC A standard as well as Welsh Government Design Quality Requirements.

We will be building around 11,000 sqft of commercial spaces on Dunraven Street too which will greatly improve the street scene at one of the key entrances into the town centre.

Our contractor partner Willis Construction Ltd will be delivering the project for us which is due for completion of build in 2025.

  • Former Treorchi Sorting Office

This project in the centre of Treorchi is a mixed use development which means we are building new homes alongside refurbishment of an existing building and retaining a commercial tenant on the ground floor of the building.

Our project which is being built by Kingfisher Developments Ltd will deliver 9 new homes, 1 of which will be an accessible home to meet the specific needs of a tenant. Our new homes will be built to meet EPC A and Welsh Government Design Quality Requirements.

This project is due for completion of build in early 2024.

  • Hafod Wen, Tonyrefail

Our project at Hafod Wen will deliver 70 new homes which will be a mix of 24 two bedroom houses, 14 three bedroom houses, 12 four bedroom houses. There will also be 8 two bedroom bungalows, 2 two bedroom flats and 10 one bedroom flats, of which 2 will be accessible. Our new homes will achieve EPC A standard and have been designed to meet Welsh Governments Design Quality Requirements.

Our contractor partner Jones Brothers Henllan Ltd are scheduled to complete the build in 2025.

  • Woodlands Green, Coedely

This is a development of 6 one bedroom flats that RHA Wales is acquiring from Lewis Homes as part of a s106 agreement. These are ‘walk up’ flats that all have their own external front door and are part of Davies Homes’ wider residential development in Coedely.

Handover is expected in early 2024.

  • Hughes Street, Tonypandy

This is a supported accommodation project in Tonypandy that will be managed by Stori Cymry (formerly known as Hafan Cymru). The building consists of 4 one bedroom flats alongside staff accommodation and training space. The flats will be used to support people in moving from temporary accommodation or homelessness and will provide an opportunity to learn skills that will help with managing a tenancy and home. The project has been part funded  by Welsh Government’s Social Housing Grant Programme.

Our contractor partner P&P Building and Roofing Ltd are delivering the project for us which is due for completion of build in early 2024.
