Gas safety in your home
As an RHA tenant, we arrange an annual gas safety check for your home.
As an RHA tenant, we arrange an annual gas safety check for your home.
A qualified Gas Safe Engineer will call once a year to carry out a gas service and safety check – even if the gas meter in your home has been turned off, we need to check the pipes to make sure there are no gas leaks.
The safety check takes approximately 45 minutes and includes a check and service of your boiler, gas pipes and flues. We will also check the connection to your gas cooker (if you have one) but not the cooker itself; you are responsible for this.
Once the check has been completed, the engineer will give you a Landlord Gas Safety Record. This means your boiler and fittings meet the correct safety standards.
When your next safety check is due, our contractor will send you a letter with an appointment date and time. Please use the contact details on the letter to inform the contractor if this date/time is not convenient for you so that the appointment can be rearranged. Failure to comply with the gas safety appointment could result in legal action being taken against you/your tenancy.
